Banish Bothersome Warts Quickly and Naturally with Homeopathy

My teenage years were rough ones. A car wreck left me with a serious brain trauma that required years of concentrated medical treatment and rehabilitation. In addition, I suffered from extreme acne. And to top it off, my body was routinely covered with 30 to 50 warts at any given time. Warts are caused by a mildly contagious virus, so perhaps I picked up something during my extended stay in the hospital. Or perhaps the warts were a curious side effect of the many acne medications I tried during the same period. Regardless of the cause, my mom and I took many, many trips to the dermatologist's office where the warts were frozen off -- only to reappear all over my hands, fingers, and toes within days of being removed.

Warts Inspire Superstitious and Extreme Treatments

Warts are not dangerous. And they will usually go away by themselves (although left to their own devices they might hang on for years before they leave). Warts are also a popular subject of superstition and old wives tales. As a child, I believed I could get warts from touching toads--which is patently untrue. As a wart-covered teenager, I received much "helpful" advice from community members. For example, I was regularly encouraged to cut a potato in half, rub the inside of the vegetable on my wart, then bury the spud in the dirt. And by reading The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, I learned that some people try to remove warts by taking a dead cat into a graveyard at midnight. While this method sounded full of mystery and adventure, I never tried it. But, today, as an experienced homeopathic practitioner, I have my doubts as to the efficacy of that method.

As a young adult, I did manage to get rid of my warts on my own. But I used an extreme technique that I do not advise anyone else to try. I drank a gallon of homemade kombucha tea every day for about three months. The warts went away after about two weeks and never returned. But I'm not sharing this radical treatment with you to encourage you to try it. I'm sharing it to make a point. Many of us today feel that we must go to extremes to experience vibrant health. Whether we're applying completely caustic, over-the-counter solvents to our skin to kill the wart virus, undergoing laser surgery, or subjecting ourselves to expensive and repeated electrocautery or cryotherapy treatments, or wrapping our fingers in duct tape for months at a time -- we are taking an extreme approach to our health that I simply do not support or believe in.

Homeopathy: A Balanced Approach to Wart Removal

Today, I work with many people who come to me with warts of all sorts. Common warts. Flat warts. Genital warts. And Plantars warts. Since warts are usually just one symptom of a greater bodily imbalance, I encourage my patients to seek a constitutional remedy that will improve their overall picture of health. However, I have found that certain remedies -- particularly when topically applied directly onto the affected area -- are highly effective in removing warts for good. Depending on the person's unique physical makeup, I might recommend Baryta Carbonica, Belladonna, Dulcamara, or Causticum.

In fact, I recently worked with the teenage daughter of a good friend who had suffered from a painful and bloody wart at the tip of her elbow for several years. (By the way, warts most commonly develop in early childhood through adolescence.) With her parent's support, she had pursued a range of natural health care treatments, including the use of Moxa sticks from the science of Chinese medicine and the application of milkweed thistle paste from a Native American herbal tradition. While each of these treatments did indeed shrink the wart, they failed to remove it for good. When she came to me, she had basically given up and felt that nothing could possibly get that wart off her elbow. Because she was impatient and did not want to experiment with one remedy after another, I encouraged her to try a topical treatment that combined multiple homeopathic remedies into a single ointment. Within a week of daily application, her mother called me to share the great news: the wart had literally disappeared. The best part of this experience for me was the fact that the teenager came to trust homeopathy. Now, she is willing to invest her time and interest in applying it to her overall health. Today, we are working together to find her body's ideal constitutional remedy -- the one that will help rebalance and strengthen her bodily systems for optimum health. In this way, the virus that caused the wart will be less likely to resurface. And her other health challenges, like acne and irregular periods, will hopefully become symptoms of the past as well.

Personalize your Approach to Homeopathic Healing

Like the young woman mentioned above, you may feel an immediate need to remove your warts. So you may want to pursue one or more of the remedies mentioned above. Then, as you begin to experience the gentle-yet-effective results of these natural health remedies, you may wish to delve in deeper. When that occurs, I encourage you to seek out an experienced homeopathic practitioner who will work with you to discover your body's overall constitutional remedy. You'll be glad you did.
